How to Turn on the High Beam in Golf?

On the back of the left side of the steering wheel and below the left side of the center console, locate the vehicle's light control lever and operation knob. The default position of the FAW-Volkswagen Golf's light control lever is the low beam position. For the FAW-Volkswagen Golf 6, push the light control lever forward to activate the high beam, and pull it backward for a single high beam flash.
I've been driving a Golf for three to four years and have encountered many nighttime driving situations. The high beam operation is actually quite intuitive. When you sit in the driver's seat, first locate the lever on the left side of the steering wheel—the one you usually use for turn signals. Simply push it all the way forward to lock the high beams, and a blue icon will light up on the dashboard to remind you that they're on. Remember to use them only in areas without streetlights or oncoming traffic, as they can easily blind others and cause accidents. To turn them off, just push the lever back or return it to its original position. When I first started driving, I often forgot to turn off the high beams and got honked at by cars behind me, but later I got used to it and found it super convenient. If pushing it doesn't turn them on, it might be a blown fuse or a bulb issue, which can be fixed with a simple replacement.
As someone who has been repairing cars for nearly twenty years, I often help friends fix cars like the Golf. The high beam operation is quite basic. Just look at the multifunction lever on the left side of the steering wheel. To turn on the high beams, simply push the lever forward firmly, and the system will lock them on continuously, with a blue light showing on the dashboard. If you just want to flash the high beams briefly to alert oncoming traffic, pull the lever backward slightly. If pushing it doesn't work, it's likely due to poor electrical contact or a blown fuse—you can start by checking the headlight fuse box, which is easy to locate in the engine bay. For safety, avoid using high beams in crowded urban areas as they can interfere with other drivers' vision. If the lever gets stuck, it might be a minor issue with the control module, and getting it fixed at a shop shouldn't be expensive.
