How to Turn on the Fog Lights of the Tiguan?
2 Answers
Tiguan's fog light switch is located on the lighting assembly to the left of the steering wheel. You can turn the fog lights on or off by rotating the switch. The front fog lights of the Tiguan feature an integrated design of the lamp cover and housing, meaning the cover cannot be replaced separately—only the entire fog light assembly can be replaced. If you need to replace the fog light cover, follow these steps to remove the fog light: 1. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry from the back of the fog light grille, releasing the clips inside. Then, use the screwdriver to pry the clips securing the grille to the front bumper from the front gap. Once all clips are released, remove the fog light grille. 2. Remove the two screws fixing the fog light in place. 3. After removing the screws, the fog light is secured by two tabs inserted into the bumper's clip holes. Hold the area where the screws were removed and gently pull upwards to detach the front fog light.
I've been driving my Tiguan for several years, and the steps to turn on the fog lights are pretty straightforward. First, you need to turn on the headlights; otherwise, the fog light option will be grayed out. Then, look at the control stalk on the left side of the steering wheel—there's a ring-shaped switch on its inner side with a small fog light icon. Rotating it clockwise activates the front fog lights, and another turn might bring up the rear fog light option. In rainy or foggy conditions, it significantly improves visibility, but avoid using it unnecessarily on clear nights to prevent blinding others. If you're unsure about the icon's location, check the owner's manual—some newer Tiguan models have electronic buttons on the dashboard. I recommend checking the lights during every service to prevent unexpected failures. Remember, proper use of fog lights is a responsibility for your safety and others', and some local regulations require them to be on during severe weather.
