How to Turn On the Fog Lights of the 2016 Nissan Qashqai?

2016 Nissan Qashqai fog lights can be turned on by rotating the right-side light control knob to the lower right position. Fog lights, generally referring to automotive fog lights, are installed at the front and rear of the vehicle. They are essential in foggy conditions where visibility is low, and the driver's line of sight is limited. The 2016 Nissan Qashqai is a compact SUV with dimensions of 4384mm in length, 1837mm in width, and 1594mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2646mm. The 2016 Qashqai features a 5-door, 5-seat SUV body type, a 6-speed manual transmission, a top speed of 180 km/h, and a front-wheel-drive system.
I've been driving the Qashqai for four years now, and the fog light operation is indeed a bit hidden. You see that light control stalk on the left side of the steering wheel? There's a rotatable button at the top, right? First, twist the outermost part to turn on the parking lights or headlights, wait for the green light indicator to appear on the dashboard, then press the center of this button—note, press it vertically downward, don't twist. Press once for the front fog lights (a green icon with wavy lines will appear on the dashboard), and press again to add the rear fog lights (orange icon). Remember to turn them off promptly after use in foggy conditions, as the rear fog lights can be particularly glaring to vehicles behind. Don’t turn them on unnecessarily in clear weather—it’s not only unsafe but could also get you a ticket.
Back when I drove the old Qashqai, it also took me a while to figure it out. The 2016 model has a combination stalk behind the left side of the steering wheel—look for the rotary knob head with the fog light symbol. The key prerequisite is that you must first turn on the low beams (rotate the knob to the second position). At this point, pressing the center of the knob will produce a click sound. The first press activates the front fog lights, and a green front fog light symbol will appear on the dashboard. Pressing it a second time turns on the rear fog light, displaying an orange icon. In low-visibility conditions like rain, turning on both front and rear fog lights enhances penetration. However, avoid using fog lights on clear nights, as they can actually reduce road visibility.
When I first bought the car, I couldn't find the fog light switch either. Make sure the key is in the ACC position or the engine is running. Feel the left-hand stalk on the steering wheel's left side - see that cylindrical knob cap? First, turn it counterclockwise twice to turn on the low beams. Then, press firmly with your thumb on the metal cap at the top of the knob (don't rotate it). Press once to activate the front fog lights, and a green fog light icon will appear on the left side of the instrument cluster. Important note: The rear fog lights require the front fog lights to be on first - just press the switch once more. Fog lights consume less power than headlights but have stronger penetration. During heavy rain, actual tests show they illuminate 20+ meters farther than high beams.
