Push the wiper lever upward once to activate the automatic wipers, which adjust the wiper speed according to the intensity of the rain. Push it upward once more to switch to the LO (low) mode. Push it upward again to switch to the HI (high) mode, activating the high-speed wipers. Return the lever to the OFF position. Push it downward once to activate a single wipe of the front windshield. Press the button at the top of the lever to activate the rear wiper. Pull the lever toward yourself to spray washer fluid onto the front windshield and activate the wipers. Push the lever forward to spray washer fluid onto the rear windshield and activate the rear wiper.
As a Mazda Atenza owner, I frequently use the automatic wipers in rainy weather. The activation method is actually quite simple. Just rotate the wiper control stalk on the right side of the steering wheel to the dedicated AUTO position, and there's usually a knob to adjust sensitivity - turn it higher during heavy rain for more frequent wiping. I find it extremely practical as the sensor automatically detects rainfall, eliminating manual operation and making driving more reassuring. Just remember not to let dirt block the sensor area in the middle of the windshield, or it will malfunction and need cleaning. For maintenance, I regularly check the wiper blades to prevent aging from affecting performance. Before rain comes, I preset the sensitivity, which proves very convenient for maintaining visibility during urban traffic jams.
