The headlight switch of the Mondeo is located at the lower left side of the steering wheel. To operate the lights, first ensure the vehicle is in the ignition-on state. Simply turn the knob to the automatic mode position to activate the automatic mode.
As an owner of the older Mondeo model, operating the automatic headlights is actually quite simple. Just turn the light control stalk located at the lower left of the steering wheel gently to the foremost 'AUTO' position. At this point, a small green light icon will illuminate on the instrument panel, indicating that the automatic headlight system is activated. The lights will automatically turn on when entering tunnels during rainy days or when the light dims in the evening. When you turn off the engine and open the door, the headlights will delay turning off to light up the road, a feature called 'Follow Me Home'. If you turn the stalk to other positions, you'll exit the automatic mode and have to manually control the lights. Remember to keep the light sensor probe at the top of the windshield clean, as dirt can affect its sensing accuracy.
Just finished studying the Mondeo's lighting system. Its automatic headlight switch is located on the left side of the center console near the driver's seat. Locate the light adjustment knob, which has four positions: 0/AUTO/parking lights/headlights. Simply turn the knob clockwise to the AUTO position, and you'll hear a 'click' sound indicating successful switching. Note that foggy windows during rainy weather may block the windshield's interior light sensor, causing malfunction. In such cases, manually switching to low beams is more reliable. The feature where the headlights remain on for 30 seconds after locking the car at night can be adjusted in duration or turned off in the vehicle settings on the center display screen.
