When you need to turn on the air conditioning system, you can press any switch on the air conditioning panel to activate it. Simply press the A/C button on the air conditioning panel to turn the cooling mode on and off. In some special weather conditions, if the cooling operation mode is turned off, the air will not be cooled or dehumidified. Water vapor may form on the window glass.
When helping my neighbor adjust the air conditioning in his old Audi A6, I usually operate the cooling function as follows: First, start the engine and let it warm up for a few minutes. Then locate the A/C button on the center console – press it (the illuminated light indicates cooling is activated), and rotate the temperature control knob to the coldest setting, which is either the blue zone or the lowest number (e.g., 18°C). If there are no numbers, turn it toward the cool direction. Next, adjust the fan speed to medium using the fan button, ensuring the vents are directed inward to blow cold air. If the car interior is hot, opening the windows for ventilation for about a minute before closing them can improve cooling efficiency. Remember to regularly check the cabin air filter and refrigerant levels, as older cars are prone to leaks that can weaken cooling performance. Neglecting this may shorten the system's lifespan. Before driving in summer, test the cooling effect for a few minutes. If it doesn’t work properly, promptly visit a repair shop for refrigerant recharge to avoid discomfort during the trip.
