How to Turn Off Volvo's Start-Stop Function?

When the auto start-stop is activated and you need to park and turn off the engine, you must first press the brake pedal, which triggers the auto start-stop function. The green auto start-stop indicator light will illuminate. At this point, if you shift the gear to P (Park), the engine will restart. Then, you need to press the "start/stop" button to completely shut off the engine.
As a Volvo XC90 owner for nearly four years, I find the start-stop function quite annoying in traffic jams as the engine keeps frequently turning on and off. The way to disable it is actually quite simple: after each engine start, just locate the button with a circled "A" icon on the center console - usually positioned near the climate controls - and press it once to temporarily deactivate. However, it automatically reactivates upon next vehicle startup, so you need to make it a habit to turn it off upon entering. I always prefer disabling it because the engine shutdown creates slight vibrations that affect driving comfort, especially during short commutes. Additionally, prolonged use of start-stop may accelerate battery depletion, so I only keep it enabled during highway driving or smooth road conditions. Overall, this is just a minor adjustment that doesn't affect vehicle performance but makes driving more comfortable.
