How to Turn Off the Start-Stop Function in Cadillac XTS?
1 Answers
On the Cadillac XTS center console, next to the gear shift lever, there is a button to turn off the engine start-stop function. It features a circular arrow with an 'A' inside. If you do not wish to use the automatic start-stop feature, you can press this button before driving to deactivate it. Situations where you might want to disable the automatic start-stop function include: 1. Temporary parking on a slope: The start-stop system activates slowly, and when releasing the brake, the vehicle may slide. The engine might not start quickly enough to provide sufficient braking force, leading to potential hazards. 2. Low-speed parking: Frequent start-stop cycles during parking can result in incomplete fuel combustion, leading to carbon buildup and increased pollutant emissions. 3. When using air conditioning: The air conditioning system requires significant power consumption. If the engine is off, the vehicle's electrical system might not provide enough power to run the air conditioning, causing discomfort for passengers. 4. During heavy traffic: Prolonged engine shutdowns can lower the combustion chamber temperature, causing unburned hydrocarbons and paraffin to form carbon deposits on the cylinder walls. These deposits can increase fuel consumption and reduce engine power.
