Open the driver's side door of the Tesla vehicle and press the one-touch start button. Hold down the lock button on the driver's door of the Tesla vehicle for more than 10 seconds to shut down the system.

Last time when camping with friends, I also encountered this issue and specifically researched how to turn off the Tesla screen. The operation is actually very simple. After you enable Camp Mode, isn't there a control bar on the screen? On the far right, there's a small moon icon—just tap it to turn off the screen. If you can't find it, pull down the top menu bar, where you'll find a 'Screen Clean Mode' toggle; activating it will also immediately black out the screen. If the car's system has been updated, you might need to locate the 'Display' option in the central control settings and adjust the screen brightness to the lowest level. Remember to plug in the charging cable at the service area before turning off the screen, otherwise, it's easy to drain the battery—we almost couldn't start the car last time.

Tested three practical methods: The first is the most straightforward—press and hold the brightness adjustment button in the menu bar for three seconds after enabling camping mode. The second is to tap the screen-off button below the temperature control interface. The third, a more advanced approach, is to use the voice command 'Turn off the screen'—though you'll need to confirm your voice control is updated to the latest version. Remember to adjust your air conditioning settings before turning off the screen, or else the sudden automatic wake-up for temperature adjustments in the middle of the night can be quite startling. Post-OTA update 2023.12 testing shows that the air conditioning panel remains visible for ten minutes after the screen is turned off before fully dimming.

Don't get confused by those complicated tutorials. The core process is just two steps: After turning on Camp Mode, swipe down on the AC interface to bring up the quick panel, then locate the touch icon on the screen. Pay attention to three details: 1) Disconnect the mobile app, otherwise remote status checking will wake up the screen; 2) The driver's seatbelt must be unfastened; 3) The seat pressure sensor shouldn't bear weight. My tip: Change the infotainment wallpaper to dark mode beforehand - it significantly reduces light leakage after screen-off.

The Model Y requires one more step than the Model 3 in real-world testing: after activating Camp Mode, you need to open the Safety menu and enable Screen Blanking Mode to completely power off. The latest system can keep the screen off while the car is locked, but make sure the key card is not left inside. It's recommended to set the left steering wheel scroll wheel to control the screen on/off—pressing the scroll wheel twice during camping is much more convenient than locating the touch control. Remember to bring a sunshade for physical coverage, which saves more energy than system shutdown.
