To turn off the rear wiper on the Volkswagen Tayron, lift the wiper lever upward. Pressing it downward activates the wiper. Below are some maintenance tips for wipers: 1. When using the wiper to remove dust from the windshield on sunny days: Always spray windshield washer fluid first; never operate the wiper dry. 2. If there are stubborn or hard contaminants on the glass: Remove them manually, as these can damage the wiper blade, leading to ineffective cleaning. In severe cases, the wiper motor may also be affected. 3. When lifting the wiper blade during car washing or routine cleaning: Hold the "backbone" of the wiper blade and gently return it to its position. Avoid snapping the blade back abruptly. 4. During winter use: First, use an ice scraper to remove ice chunks from the windshield to prevent overburdening the wiper. 5. If contaminants on the wiper are hard to remove or the wiper itself malfunctions: Seek professional repair as soon as possible.

It took me over half a year of driving the Tayron to finally figure out how to turn off the rear wiper, but it's actually quite simple. On the wiper control stalk on the right side of the steering wheel, you see that rotatable knob? It specifically controls the rear wiper. Just rotate it clockwise or counterclockwise to the end until you hear a click, and when the rear wiper icon on the dashboard goes off, it means it's turned off. Remember, sometimes the rear wiper automatically turns on when you shift into reverse gear. In this case, it will turn off by itself when you drive forward, but if it doesn't, you'll need to manually twist it back. After using it more, I also discovered a little trick: you can press the middle of the knob to spray washer fluid, which is super convenient for cleaning the rear window.

Last time I helped a friend adjust the rear wiper on their Tayron, I happened to study this. Focus on the knob at the end of the wiper stalk on the right side of the steering wheel: the first position is intermittent wipe, the second is continuous wipe, and turning it all the way back is the off position. If the wiper is still moving, slowly rotate the knob to feel the position changes - the stopping point is the off position. Also, if the windshield is dirty, it's recommended to spray water first before turning it off to avoid damaging the rubber blades with dry wiping. This knob operation is actually the same as most Volkswagen models - once you're familiar with it, you can get it done in five seconds.

Don't panic if you can't turn off the rear wiper on your Tayron. Just follow these three steps: First, reach for the wiper stalk on the right side of the steering wheel. Second, locate the graduated rotary knob at the end of the stalk. Third, rotate it counterclockwise to the end. You'll feel the knob lock in place, and when the rear wiper indicator on the dashboard disappears, you've succeeded. Volkswagen's design is quite thoughtful—the knob has anti-slip grooves, making it operable even with gloves in winter. If you suddenly need to turn it off while driving in the rain, you can do it one-handed without distraction.
