How to Turn Off the Engine and Remove the Key?

Press the car's brake pedal all the way down until it stops, and park the car steadily in the parking space. Pull up the handbrake, turn the car key to the OFF position to shut off the engine, then turn off the lights and electrical equipment in the car, and finally remove the key.
After parking the car, I usually press the brake pedal to ensure the vehicle comes to a complete stop. Then I shift the gear to P (for automatic transmission) or neutral (for manual transmission), and engage the handbrake to prevent the car from rolling. Next, I gently turn the key counterclockwise to the OFF position—the engine will shut off first, and then I continue turning to the LOCK position to smoothly remove the key. If the key gets stuck and won’t come out, it’s likely because the steering wheel is locked; a slight turn left or right will unlock it. It’s crucial to follow these steps in order, or you might damage the transmission. Last time I rushed to pull out the key and almost broke the key slot.
