How to Turn Off the Continuously Lit Taillights on the BYD Surui?

There is a composite switch on the lower left side. Push the head of that switch forward by one notch to turn on the rear position lights and the width indicator lights. As long as you haven't removed the car key, the width indicator lights and rear position lights will generally stay lit continuously until the bulb burns out or the battery is drained.
I've encountered a similar issue with my BYD Surui where the taillights inexplicably stayed on, which was quite alarming at night. The first thing I did was turn off the engine, lock the car, and wait a few seconds before restarting—sometimes it's just a minor glitch in the computer system causing the taillights to remain lit, and a system reboot often fixes it. However, this time the reboot didn't work, so I decided to do a quick check myself. I moved the floor mat away from the brake pedal to ensure it wasn't stuck and causing a false brake signal that triggered the taillights, but the mat was fine. Next, I tried turning off all interior devices using the switch near the driver's door, but the taillights stubbornly stayed on. Then, I located the fuse box, usually found under the steering wheel or in the engine compartment, and checked if any fuses were blown. The fuses looked intact, so my next step was to open the engine compartment, temporarily disconnect the negative battery terminal, and cut power completely for a minute before reconnecting it. This finally turned off the taillights. But this was only a temporary fix. Later, I took the car to a repair shop, where they diagnosed it as a sticky brake switch issue. It was fixed by replacing the switch for just a few dozen yuan. For daily driving, remember not to hold the brake pedal down for too long, and regularly clean around the brake area to prevent similar problems.
