How to turn off the auto start-stop function in Cadillac XTS?
1 Answers
On the center console of the Cadillac XTS, next to the gear shift lever, there is a button to turn off the engine start-stop function. It features a circular arrow with an 'A' inside. If you do not wish to use the auto start-stop function, you can press this button before driving to deactivate it. Situations where it is advisable to turn off the auto start-stop function include: 1. Temporary parking on slopes - it is best to avoid using the start-stop system when temporarily parked on a slope. 2. Low-speed parking - frequent start-stop cycles during parking can lead to incomplete fuel combustion, which may cause carbon buildup and increase pollutant emissions. Therefore, it is better to turn off the auto start-stop function when parking. 3. When using the air conditioning - it is preferable not to activate the start-stop function, as the air conditioning requires significant power consumption. If the engine is off, the vehicle's electrical system may not provide enough power to run the air conditioning, leading to discomfort for passengers. 4. Heavy traffic - during severe traffic congestion, it is also recommended to turn off the auto start-stop function, as prolonged engine inactivity can lower the combustion chamber temperature, causing unburned hydrocarbons and paraffin to form carbon deposits on the cylinder walls.
