On the Cadillac XTS center console, next to the gear shift lever, there is a button to turn off the engine auto start-stop function. It features a circular arrow with an 'A' inside. If you do not wish to use the auto start-stop function, you can press this button before driving to deactivate it. Below are situations where it is advisable to turn off the auto start-stop: 1. Temporary parking on slopes: Avoid using the start-stop system when temporarily parked on a slope. The system starts relatively slowly, and when you release the brake, the vehicle may slide before the engine can restart, leading to insufficient braking power and potential danger. However, most vehicles detect slopes and will not activate the start-stop system if the downhill slope exceeds 10% or the uphill slope exceeds 12%. 2. Low-speed parking: Frequent start-stop cycles can lead to incomplete fuel combustion, increasing carbon deposits and tailpipe emissions. Therefore, it is better to turn off the auto start-stop function when parking. 4. Heavy traffic congestion: During severe traffic jams, it is also recommended to turn off the auto start-stop function.
