How to Troubleshoot When the Windshield Wiper Won't Stop?

If the windshield wiper keeps running non-stop, it is likely due to a fault in the wiper motor circuit. When the demand signal is transmitted to the BCM, the BCM sends a start signal to the wiper motor, which then controls the wiper arm to perform the corresponding action.
A few days ago, my windshield wipers wouldn't stop while I was driving, which was quite alarming at first. I had to pull over and tried adjusting the switch, but it didn't help. I thought it might be due to a stuck wiper relay or a short circuit in the switch. Quickly grabbing a wrench from my toolbox, I disconnected the negative battery terminal to stop the wipers, being careful not to get shocked by the battery connection. It's best to head straight to a repair shop to check the circuit, as continuous wiping could drain the battery or burn out the motor. Regularly cleaning wiper components before driving can prevent this issue, especially giving them a thorough check before the rainy season for peace of mind. This incident taught me not to ignore small warning signs—safety always comes first.
