How to Store a Car Cover?

Unfasten the buckles at both ends of the car cover and straighten out the ropes to avoid obstructions, then lift the front and rear sections of the rear cover. If there are windproof straps, first untie them before removing the two side mirror covers. Fold the car cover from front to back (or vice versa) on the roof. When folded to approximately 30 cm in width, it can then be folded in half and rolled up. After folding, neatly pack it into the storage bag. It's best to fold the outer surface of the car cover inside for optimal hygiene.
Every time after using the car cover, I first lay it flat on the ground and carefully fold it into a small square, just like folding a blanket, so it won't get wrinkled when stored. After folding, I usually tuck it into a dedicated storage bag in the trunk of my car, where it's dry and shaded, protecting the cover's material. When the weather turns cold, I clean any surface stains before storing it to prevent dust buildup that could accelerate aging. If I won't be using it for a long time, I hang it in a cool spot in the garage—never stuffed in a corner, as that could flatten it and affect the next use. Developing this habit has significantly extended my car cover's lifespan and saved me the hassle of frequent replacements.
When I first started driving, I always stuffed the car cover randomly, only to find it would ball up and affect its protective effect. Now, I unfold it, fold it several times, then roll it up and place it in a dust-proof bag, storing it in the storage box in the trunk. This way, it doesn’t take up much space, maintains its shape, and won’t come loose and get in the way during the drive. Remember to wash and dry it before storing to avoid moisture causing mildew spots, which is especially important for protecting the car’s paint.
As a car owner for over a decade, I insist on folding the car cover neatly before storing it in a carrying bag with handles for easy transport. I always choose a dry and shady corner in the garage for storage, making sure not to compress it. Additionally, I regularly inspect for any damages, as improper folding can cause wear and tear, which affects the cover's waterproof performance. When traveling, I fold it properly and place it in a fixed spot in the trunk to enhance travel efficiency.
