How to start Nissan X-Trail with key system failure?

You can use the mechanical key. Press the side of the key with the logo firmly against the one-touch start switch, hold for a few seconds, then press directly to start. If the battery in the key is dead, purchase and replace it with a button battery. Each remote key has a metal key blade inserted; simply insert the key blade into the keyhole.
Last week, my X-Trail encountered the exact same situation, and I was so anxious thinking the car was broken. Actually, the mechanical key is hidden inside the smart key—just press the latch on the back to pull it out. After opening the door, don’t rush to start the engine. First, press the brake pedal, then firmly press the back of the key against the push-start button, similar to how wireless charging works with a phone. Hold it for about ten seconds until the dashboard lights up, and the car will start. If this trick doesn’t work, it’s likely the key battery is dead. Just grab a CR2025 button battery from a convenience store and replace it yourself. It’s also a good idea to keep a spare battery in the car—it can save a lot of hassle in emergencies.
