How to Start an Automatic Transmission Vehicle?
1 Answers
Starting an automatic transmission vehicle involves the following steps: 1. Automatic cars can only be started when in P (Park) or N (Neutral) gear, and some models may even require being in P gear to start. Therefore, always ensure the gear is in P before ignition. 2. Press the brake - start the engine - shift to D (Drive) or R (Reverse) gear - release the handbrake - release the foot brake - press the accelerator - begin driving. If waiting at a red light for an extended period, there are two gear-shifting methods: 1. Keep the gear in D and press the brake, which consumes more fuel than shifting to N. If the waiting time is short, it's advisable to shift to N and apply the handbrake. 2. For longer waits, to save fuel and be more environmentally friendly, switch to parking mode by applying the handbrake and shifting to P gear.
