There are three types of Teana key fobs, each with different emergency start methods, as detailed below: 1. Card-type smart key. This vehicle features a rotary knob start system, used in models before 2009. Insert the small key into the rotary knob to start the car. 2. Oval-shaped smart card A, used in approximately 2009-2013 models with push-button start. If the key fob battery is dead, insert the key into the key slot below the start button to start the vehicle. 3. Oval-shaped smart card B, used in 2014 and later models with push-button start. If the key fob battery is dead, simply press the key against the start button to start the car.

Last time my car had this issue, the mechanical key was hidden in the side clip of the remote key. Just pry open the casing firmly to see the copper key blade, then insert it into the driver's door lock and turn clockwise to open the door. Once inside the car, place the remote key against the push-to-start button—even if the key is completely dead, the car can still recognize the anti-theft chip inside. Nissan's design is quite user-friendly, with the sensing area potentially hidden under the cup holder or inside the center console, as shown in the manual's diagrams. After starting the car, it's advisable to head straight to an auto parts store to replace the CR2032 coin battery—it’s just a ten-yuan fix. Always keep a spare battery in the glove box, and replace it when the key’s indicator light dims.

With over a decade of car repair experience, I'm very familiar with mechanical key slots. The Nissan Teana key has a small groove on the side - just pry it with your nail and the copper key pops out. After opening the door, don't panic, press the entire key against the start button. Japanese cars have sensitive induction modules that can weakly power up and unlock when the key chip is near. If that doesn't work, try pressing the key against the lightning symbol on the gearshift base - that's the alternative induction area for some models. The key is to keep the key pressed against the button for at least three seconds, wait for the green key light on the dashboard to illuminate, then press the brake to start. Of course, this is just a temporary solution - a repair shop can replace the battery in just five minutes.

Emergency Start Procedure Tested in 3 Steps: Pry open the key fob to retrieve mechanical key → Unlock door (do NOT press brake pedal) → Tap the push-start button with key end (listen for clicking sound) while immediately pressing brake and ignition. Principle: Electromagnetic induction activates anti-theft chip. Successfully used this midnight trick to start car & drive to 24h convenience store for battery replacement. Note: Some models have induction zones on steering wheel side/center console (see page 83 of owner's manual for diagrams).
