Seal all holes and openings on the steel plate between the engine compartment and the cabin, whether they are wired or not, using foam sealant. Clean the inner arch plastic or flocked panel thoroughly, ensure it is firmly secured, and then directly spray the wheel arch soundproofing damping paint onto the inner arch.

I recently completed sound insulation modifications on my car, mainly focusing on the four doors and chassis. First, I applied butyl rubber damping sheets to the inner side of the doors to effectively reduce vibration noise, then installed soundproofing cotton to absorb high-frequency sounds. For the chassis, I first covered it with felt material, then laid a layer of soundproofing rubber mat, and added specialized soundproofing coating to the wheel arches. The whole project took two weekend days with material costs over 800 yuan. Now the tire noise and wind noise are significantly reduced while driving, and even the audio system sounds better. When doing it yourself, be careful not to block the door drainage holes, and choose eco-friendly materials to avoid unpleasant odors in the car.

What do T and L represent in cars?

In cars, T and L represent: 1. T stands for Turbocharging: A turbocharger increases the intake air volume without changing the engine's displacement, thereby enhancing output power and resolving the contradiction between increasing power and achieving engine lightweight and compactness. 2. L stands for Naturally Aspirated: Naturally aspirated is a type of car intake system where air is drawn into the combustion chamber by atmospheric pressure without the use of any supercharger. For car owners who frequently drive on highways, it is advisable to choose an engine with a T (turbocharged) as highway speeds often demand certain performance requirements. In such scenarios, turbocharging can effectively leverage its advantages. In stop-and-go traffic, turbocharged engines can be more prone to damage and may increase fuel consumption, whereas on highways, turbocharging can fully unleash its potential, providing a more powerful driving experience compared to naturally aspirated engines.

What transmission does the BMW X3 use?

The BMW X3 uses a transmission provided by ZF. ZF is a globally active technology group that offers mobility system solutions for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and industrial technology. It is also a major supplier of special transmissions for ships, forklifts, railway locomotives, and helicopters. The BMW X3 is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This automatic transmission has eight forward gears. Essentially, an automatic transmission is a traditional AT or CVT transmission with the added functionality of manual shifting. The purpose of an automatic transmission is to enhance the driving pleasure of automatic vehicles. When using the BMW X3's transmission in daily driving, the following points should be noted: Do not delay changing the transmission oil for extended periods. Prolonged failure to change the transmission oil can lead to damage to internal components such as bearings and the housing. Avoid coasting in neutral for long durations. While driving manual transmission vehicles, many experienced drivers may coast in neutral, but for automatic transmission vehicles, this can cause the transmission to overheat and may result in a noticeable jolt when shifting back into Drive (D). Never shift into Drive (D) or Reverse (R) before the vehicle has come to a complete stop. Many drivers, aiming to showcase smooth operation, shift into reverse while the vehicle is still moving, which can severely damage the transmission gears and, over time, lead to gear grinding and other malfunctions. Avoid frequently climbing steep slopes in Drive (D). On steep inclines, automatic vehicles can overheat due to high load or may upshift too early, resulting in insufficient power. In such cases, using manual mode to lock in lower gears or switching to sport mode can help protect the transmission. Do not tow the vehicle over long distances. If an automatic vehicle breaks down, it should be transported using a flatbed tow truck with the transmission in Neutral (N). Towing with a rope or dragging the vehicle directly should be avoided.
