How to Solve the Squeaky Friction Noise from the Steering Wheel?
2 Answers
Apply some grease to the steering wheel clock spring. Remove the steering wheel clock spring, apply some grease, and check if the noise persists. If it still makes noise, replace the clock spring. For aging steering tie rod ends, replace the steering tie rod ends. Note that a four-wheel alignment is required after replacement. Open the hood and listen to determine if the noise originates from the shock absorber top mount. Apply some grease; if ineffective, replace the component.
