How to Solve the Problem of Scooter Motor Spinning Freely?

When pressing the electric start button of the scooter, you can only hear the motor spinning freely without starting the vehicle. This may be caused by damage to the motor reduction gear. First, remove the transmission side cover. Check the reduction gear and find that the scooter motor cannot reset, confirming that the motor spinning freely is due to damage to the motor reduction gear. It is found that the reduction gear sleeve is severely worn and may no longer be usable. It is necessary to find the sleeve, reduction gear, and pressure cover according to specifications. Replace the sleeve, reduction gear, and pressure cover, then reassemble the vehicle. This will effectively solve the problem of the scooter motor spinning freely.
The last time I encountered this situation was when repairing my neighbor's old scooter. The motor was humming when idling, but the wheels wouldn't move. This issue is most likely in the transmission system, and the transmission case needs to be opened for inspection. Common problems include the pulleys in the drive disc being worn into a square shape, preventing the balls from reaching the highest point and failing to engage the clutch. Alternatively, the clutch shoes might be slipping due to oil contamination, or the drive belt might be worn down to half its original width. If you're repairing it yourself, you'll need specialized puller tools. When replacing the pulley balls, make sure to replace the entire set—never mix old and new ones. If you find grooves in the drive disc's track, the entire disc assembly must be replaced to fix the problem permanently.
