How to Solve Exhaust Camshaft Position Fluctuation?
1 Answers
Install a dial indicator in the thrust direction at the front end of the camshaft to measure whether the axial movement (forward and backward) of the camshaft indicates normal end clearance on the dial. The limit value for camshaft end clearance is 0.1~0.2mm. If it exceeds this value, the thickness of the spacer ring can be reduced or the thrust flange can be replaced. Fluctuation caused by a faulty camshaft position sensor can be resolved by replacing the sensor with a new one. Check whether the timing chain is loose, as a loose chain can cause misalignment of the gear teeth, leading to camshaft fluctuation.
