How to Solve Excessive Lateral Play in Car Window Glass?

Locate the guide rails on both sides of the window regulator (which are the left and right slots for the glass), then find the fixing bolts beneath the guide channels. Adjust them inward and test the glass clearance to resolve the issue of loose window glass.
The window glass is shaking badly, most likely due to dirty lifting tracks or loose clips. Every time I wash my car, I use alcohol wipes to clean the inner side of the tracks—those old stains turn black instantly when wiped. If it still shakes after cleaning, check the plastic clips at the bottom of the window frame that secure the glass. Tightening them with a small screwdriver will stabilize it. This trick works for both new and old cars. Before starting, remember to prepare a long, thin tweezer for easier operation—the track gaps are really narrow. After finishing, apply some grease on the rubber seals to make the window movement much smoother.
