I just bought a 2023 Lavida, and setting the tire pressure monitoring mainly relies on the steering wheel buttons. First, ensure all four tires are inflated to the standard pressure, preferably when the tires are cold. Then, start the car and press the VIEW button on the left side of the steering wheel to switch to the vehicle settings interface. Use the scroll wheel to find the 'Tire' option, click into it, and select 'Tire Pressure Monitoring'. At this point, press and hold the OK button for three seconds, and a yellow tire pressure icon will flash on the dashboard before disappearing, indicating that the setup is successful. It is recommended to drive at a speed above 40 km/h for five minutes after setup to allow the system to complete self-calibration. Remember to reset the system after each tire repair or seasonal tire pressure adjustment; otherwise, the system may give false alarms. Last time, I encountered a false alarm while driving on the highway and almost made an unnecessary trip to the service station.

The Lavida's tire pressure monitoring system is indirect, relying on wheel speed sensors to monitor tire pressure. The setup process is straightforward: After ensuring the tire pressure is correct with the vehicle powered on, use the multifunction button on the right side of the steering wheel to enter the instrument cluster menu. Navigate to the 'Tire Pressure' submenu under 'Settings', select 'Store Tire Pressure Settings', and hold the OK button until the dashboard displays a confirmation message. Note that the vehicle must be stationary during this operation—my previous attempt to set it while driving failed immediately. Once set, the system automatically learns the current tire pressure status while driving. If a tire leaks, causing abnormal rotation speed, the dashboard will immediately illuminate the tire pressure warning light. It's recommended to reset the system once a month when checking tire pressure.

What Causes a Tire Blowout?

The causes of a tire blowout are: 1. High temperature; 2. Overloading or speeding; 3. Poor road conditions; 4. Insufficient tire pressure; 5. Internal damage to the tire or air bubbles in the tire cord layer; 6. Excessive wear on the tire surface or corrosion by oil; 7. Poor-quality tires; 8. Inadequate tire maintenance. A blowout refers to the phenomenon where a tire suddenly loses air and deflates due to rupture in a very short time. The method for replacing a tire is: 1. Place the jack on the chassis bracket's designated position and loosen the screws diagonally using the wrench; 2. Hook the jack with the bracket and attach the wrench to the end of the bracket, then rotate the wrench clockwise to lift the tire off the ground with the jack; 3. Remove the screws and take off the tire for replacement.

What does it mean when the car displays 'Please change the engine oil immediately'?

The car displaying 'Please change the engine oil immediately' is a reminder to the owner to change the engine oil as soon as possible. At this point, the amount of engine oil has fallen below the standard, and continuing to drive for a long time will damage the engine. Cars usually have an oil dipstick to measure the remaining amount of engine oil. The oil dipstick has two scale lines, H (high) and L (low). When the oil level is below the lower scale line L, the car's warning light will come on, indicating that the owner needs to change the engine oil. During the operation of the car engine, the engine oil plays roles in lubrication, sealing, and cooling, which can reduce friction loss and extend the engine's service life. After driving for a long time, the owner should check whether the engine oil storage in their car is sufficient.

What does it mean when a car displays 'Check ESC'?

When a car displays 'Check ESC', it indicates a malfunction in the Electronic Stability Control system. It is recommended that the owner take the vehicle to a 4S shop or repair shop to inspect the ESC system, as continuing to drive may pose risks. The ESC system is the Electronic Stability Control system of the vehicle, which is part of the driving assistance system. If this system is damaged, the car may lose control under certain circumstances. The ESC system significantly enhances the vehicle's handling safety and driving convenience. In emergencies such as sharp turns, sudden acceleration, or braking, the system can quickly detect the situation and take appropriate braking measures, such as controlling each tire individually and reducing engine output to maintain vehicle stability.
