How to Set Up the Automatic Locking Function When Leaving?

The automatic locking function when leaving generally does not require manual setup, as the car's smart key will automatically lock the vehicle once it moves beyond a certain distance. Thus, the automatic locking feature is triggered when the smart key is out of range. The smart key is a common component of keyless entry systems, consisting of a transmitter, a remote central locking control module, a driving authorization system control module (three receivers), and related wiring harnesses. Based on signals emitted by the smart key, the vehicle can lock or unlock the doors and may also control the opening and closing of windows and the sunroof. Typically, when the driver approaches within one meter of the vehicle, the doors automatically unlock and the anti-theft system is deactivated. Conversely, when the driver leaves the vehicle, the doors automatically lock and the anti-theft system is activated.
Setting up the auto-lock feature when leaving the car is actually quite convenient. I've tried it a few times myself. After getting in the car, whether you start the engine or not, find the menu button on the left side of the steering wheel to enter the vehicle settings menu. Scroll to the door lock option, click to open it, check the auto-lock option, and save. Different cars have different procedures: Volkswagen requires operation on the dashboard, Ford uses a shortcut button on the steering wheel, and Honda might have it in the comfort menu on the center console. To test it, walk 3 meters away from the car with the key and check if the mirrors fold or listen for a beep to confirm success. Make sure the battery is sufficient, otherwise, accidental locking can be embarrassing. This feature is a lifesaver for those who often forget to lock their cars, like me rushing to work in the morning—the doors automatically lock when closed, so I don’t have to worry about losing anything.
