How to Set Up Automatic Tilt-Down for Mercedes-Benz Rearview Mirror When Reversing?

Power on the vehicle without starting the engine (press the start button without depressing the brake pedal); set the memory seats to positions 1, 2, or 3, and select the desired seat position. Choose the side mirror you wish to set up by pressing the mirror adjustment selection button (left or right). Depress the brake pedal, shift into R (Reverse) gear, and the selected mirror will automatically tilt down to the factory preset position. Use the 4-way adjustment button to set it to your preferred position. Press and hold the seat memory button for about 2 seconds, then select and hold the desired memory position. Shift into P (Park) gear while depressing the brake pedal, and press the mirror adjustment selection button once more.
It took me quite a while to figure out the mirror tilt-down setting on my Mercedes-Benz C-Class, but it's actually quite simple. First, put the car in P gear and start the engine. Make sure the mirror adjustment button is turned to the left position, so the right mirror can activate the tilt-down function. Then, shift to R gear for reversing, and the mirror will automatically tilt downward. At this point, use the directional buttons to adjust it to your most comfortable position—remember to set it at an angle where you can just see the rear wheel tire, which is especially useful for parallel parking. After adjusting, don't turn off the engine immediately; press memory button 1 or 2 near the driver's seat until you hear a 'beep' to confirm the setting is saved. Next time you reverse, it will automatically tilt to your preset position. This feature is a lifesaver for parallel parking in old residential areas—no more sticking your head out to check the curb.
