How to Set the Sunroof Initialization Function for the Ford Edge?

With the sunroof fully open, press the arrow A end of the switch to move the sunroof to the mechanical stop point. Press and hold the arrow A end of the switch for more than 10 seconds to complete the initialization. Press and hold the arrow B end of the switch again. The sunroof will automatically run through the full cycle (including the tilt) from the mechanical stop position.
Last year I replaced the battery for my Edge, but then the sunroof started opening randomly. After searching online, I found that the initialization process is actually quite simple and I successfully tried it myself. First, make sure the sunroof is fully closed without any gaps. Second, turn the key to the ignition position but don't start the engine. Third, hold down the close side of the sunroof switch for a full 30 seconds – you'll hear a 'click' sound or see an indicator light flash, which means the memory reset is complete. Why is this necessary? Because after a power loss, the system loses its position record. If left unset for a long time, it may cause the sunroof to jam or even leak. I recommend doing this every six months or after replacing the battery, and regularly sliding it to reduce friction damage.
I've been driving the Edge for three years. Last time, I encountered a sunroof malfunction. A mechanic friend taught me how to initialize it. First, close the sunroof completely, turn the key to the ON position without starting the engine, then press and hold the close button for about half a minute until it responds and then release. If it doesn't work, it might be because the sunroof wasn't properly closed or the button wasn't pressed correctly. Just repeat the operation. It's simple and saves a trip to the repair shop. It also prevents sudden malfunctions while driving, which could affect road safety. Handling minor issues yourself in daily life is quite convenient.
Initializing the sunroof is a common method to resolve functional abnormalities after a power outage. When I performed the operation, the steps were clear: close the sunroof completely, turn on the power, and hold the close button for 30 seconds until receiving a signal response. This resets the control module's memory position, preventing sliding malfunctions.
