Golf mirror tilt function setting method: 1. Power on the car but do not start the engine (press the start button without stepping on the brake); 2. Set the memory seats 1, 2, and 3 positions, select the seat position; 3. Choose the mirror you want to set, press the mirror adjustment selection button (left or right); 4. Step on the brake, shift to R gear, at this time the selected mirror will automatically tilt down to the factory preset position, press the 4-way adjustment button to adjust to the desired position; 5. Press and hold the seat memory button (1, 2, or 3) for about 2 seconds, whichever memory position you have selected; 6. Step on the brake, shift to P gear, and press the mirror adjustment selection button once more to complete the setting.
I usually drive my Volkswagen Golf, and my favorite feature is the auto-dipping mirror when reversing—it's pretty cool. The setup process is quite simple: First, start the engine, then shift into reverse (R gear) in a safe spot. Next, use the mirror adjustment button on the driver's door to tilt the right mirror to the desired position, like angling it downward to see curbs or obstacles clearly. Don’t forget to save the settings—if your Golf has memory seat functionality, press the memory button (usually on the door handle or near the seat) after adjusting the angle, and bind it to your profile (e.g., number 1 or 2). From then on, the mirror will automatically dip to this position every time you reverse, making it hassle-free. Avoid adjusting while driving; find an empty parking lot to test it slowly. Different Golf model years might have slight variations in setup—if unsure, check the owner’s manual instead of fiddling randomly to avoid damaging the buttons. I drive a 2019 model, and after setting it up, reversing has become much easier, especially at night when visibility is poor.
