How to set the automatic downward tilt of the rearview mirror when reversing in Mercedes-Benz E300?

E-Class vehicles are equipped with an automatic downward tilt function for the right rearview mirror when reversing, allowing for a better view of the lower right rear area (the left rearview mirror does not have this function). After shifting into R gear, the right rearview mirror button on the driver's side door usually lights up automatically (in red), at which point the right rearview mirror will tilt downward automatically.
When I drove the Mercedes-Benz E300 before, I also figured out the setting for the auto-dipping rearview mirror during reverse. It's quite simple but requires attention to detail. First, sit in the driver's seat and start the vehicle, then turn the mirror adjustment knob to the left position, indicating the driver's side. Next, shift into reverse gear, and the right rearview mirror will automatically tilt down slightly. If it doesn't move, wait a moment. At this point, manually adjust the mirror to your desired angle, such as a position where you can clearly see the wheels and the roadside. After adjusting, don't rush to shift gears; save it to the seat memory by pressing the seat memory button (e.g., 1 or 2), then press the 'Set' button to confirm. Next time you shift into reverse, the mirror will automatically tilt to your memorized position. This feature only activates at low speeds to avoid distraction. Once set up, reversing becomes much safer, especially in underground parking lots where obstacles are clearly visible—Mercedes designed it very user-friendly. I recommend trying different angles to find what suits you best. After saving, it's best to check in the car's menu to confirm whether the reverse assist function is enabled.
