How to Restart a Blacked-Out BMW Screen?

Restart the screen by turning the ignition on and off. If the issue persists, it might be due to poor contact in the wiring. It's necessary to promptly check if there's any loose connection in the circuit. Try replacing it with a new power cable.
I've been driving a BMW for several years and have encountered the black screen issue a few times, usually caused by software freezing or unstable battery voltage. The simplest reboot method is to turn off the engine, exit the car, lock the doors, and wait for about five to ten minutes to let the system shut down completely before restarting. If that doesn't work, press and hold the volume knob on the center console for about twenty to thirty seconds, and the screen will light up again displaying the BMW logo, which solves most problems. The last time I encountered this issue, I resolved it this way, saving a trip to the repair shop. Regular battery maintenance is important—avoid prolonged parking or draining the battery by leaving headlights on, and updating the iDrive software at the 4S shop periodically can prevent similar issues. If the screen remains black after rebooting, it might be a hardware problem like a faulty display module, which requires professional inspection.
