How to Reset the Smart Maintenance Light?

Turn on the vehicle's power and use the multifunction button on the left to locate the vehicle's maintenance information. Adjust to display the vehicle's mileage data, then press and hold the OK button for 20 seconds. After the maintenance information on the dashboard starts flashing, press and hold the RES button, and the vehicle's maintenance light will be reset.
I often drive a Smart car, and the maintenance light reset operation is actually quite simple. First, turn off the engine and ensure it's completely shut down. Then, press and hold the TRIP reset button on the dashboard—that small round button usually located to the left of your steering wheel. Next, turn the key to the ON position without starting the engine, and hold it for 10 to 15 seconds. You'll see the maintenance light blink a few times and then go off. At this point, release the button, turn off the key, and restart the car—the light won't come on anymore. This method works for most Smart models, like the FORTWO or FOURFOUR, but be patient during the process and don't let go midway, or the reset might fail. After completing the steps, double-check to ensure it worked, and the light won't bother you after the next maintenance. Doing this regularly can extend your car's lifespan and prevent distracting flashes on the dashboard.
