First, press the MODE button on the right side of the multifunction steering wheel. Then, the time information will be displayed on the central control screen. Next, locate the SET keypad on the left side of the steering wheel and press the SET key to start setting the vehicle maintenance information.

Last time, resetting the maintenance light on my 2019 Emgrand GL was quite simple. After the car was completely turned off and powered down, I found the button that looks like a small stick (lever) at the bottom left of the dashboard and held it down without releasing. With the other hand, I turned the key to the power-on position (where the dashboard lights up but the engine doesn't start). Then something magical happened—the wrench icon on the dashboard started flashing in a countdown. I waited until it finished flashing and went out before releasing the button. Then I turned the key to power off and restarted the car, and that was it! The whole process took about ten seconds, but remember to operate it in the power-off state to avoid errors.

My car is the 2019 top trim with the large screen, and the maintenance light reset can be done directly on the central control screen. After starting the car, first tap 'Vehicle Settings' on the screen, then scroll down to find the 'Maintenance' option. After entering, there will be a prompt for 'Maintenance Light Reset.' Follow the on-screen instructions to hold down the pop-up confirmation button for about 5 seconds until the wrench icon disappears, indicating success. This is much more convenient than finding a physical button in lower trims, but the key is to have the engine running. If the option isn't in the menu, it's likely an issue with the infotainment system version, and you can visit the 4S store to update the software.

If the maintenance light is still on after following the steps mentioned above, don't panic. It's likely because the system wasn't reset after the last service or the throttle valve wasn't zeroed. You can try driving a few kilometers first to let the computer refresh the data automatically. If that doesn't work, repeat the reset procedure, but make sure the battery voltage is stable during the operation. Once, I had to perform the reset three times as per the manual before it worked – these electronic systems can be a bit stubborn occasionally. After a successful reset, the mileage will start counting from zero, which is normal.
