The method to reset the maintenance light on Geely GS is: Hold down the small trip reset button, insert the car key and turn it to the position where the dashboard lights up, then release the button. The maintenance light will then be reset to zero. The maintenance light is a preset reminder for the vehicle's service interval. When the vehicle reaches the mileage that requires maintenance, the maintenance light will illuminate to remind the owner to service the vehicle. The Geely GS is a model under the Geely Emgrand series, with body dimensions of 4440mm in length, 1833mm in width, and 1573mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2700mm. In terms of exterior design, the Emgrand GS features an eye-catching red rear bumper trim that horizontally connects the two sporty and stylish chrome dual exhaust pipes, enhancing the visual appeal and recognition of the rear end.

I’ve owned this Geely GS for over three years and have performed the maintenance light reset several times, so I’m familiar with the steps for both older and newer models. For the 2016 version, the reset method is as follows: First, sit in the driver’s seat and turn the key to the ON position (you can also press the start button twice without pressing the brake), and the dashboard will light up. Then, you need to locate the ODO button that displays the total mileage, press and hold it, and simultaneously turn the key back to the OFF position. Wait a few seconds, then turn it back to the ON position while continuing to hold the ODO button for about ten seconds, and the maintenance light should go off. If it doesn’t work, it might be due to a different model. For post-2018 models with a one-button start, you’ll need to hold the TRIP button and press the start button twice to enter the engineering menu. A reminder: Before resetting, make absolutely sure the maintenance is completed—don’t ignore the warning light. Last time, I skipped an oil change to save time and reset the light, only to end up with engine noise changes and hundreds in repair costs. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

As a professional who frequently works with Geely vehicles, I've handled numerous maintenance light resets. The basic procedure is straightforward: ensure the vehicle is turned off, press and hold the TRIP reset button on the dashboard, then turn the key to the ignition position (or press the start button twice without depressing the brake pedal). Maintain pressure for 15-20 seconds, observe the dashboard indicators, and the maintenance reminder light will flash and then turn off, indicating success. A crucial reminder for all owners: resetting is merely a technical procedure—the real priority is timely oil and filter changes. I've seen too many cases where owners reset the light but neglected actual maintenance, leading to engine seizures. Procedures vary slightly by model year; for instance, the Boyue requires operation through the central control screen settings menu. If DIY attempts fail, don't panic—any repair shop can resolve it in 30 seconds using an OBD device, usually at no charge.

Last month, I reset the maintenance light on my Geely GS by myself, and it was actually simpler than I thought. First, turn the key to the position where the dashboard lights up completely, then press and hold the small cylindrical button on the right side of the dashboard (the one used to switch between trip meters) with your right hand. With the other hand, turn the key back to the off position and then turn it to the ignition position again, all while keeping the button pressed. Hold it for about five seconds, and the little wrench icon will disappear. I checked online tutorials saying some models might require repeating the process, but I succeeded on the first try. I recommend my fellow ladies to give it a try—remember to wear flat shoes for easier brake access. If you're unsure about the button's location, check the user manual in the glove box; the last chapter definitely has illustrated instructions.

What does VSC Vehicle Stability Control System mean?

Vehicle Stability Control is an active safety system developed by Toyota that significantly improves vehicle handling safety and driving convenience. Here is relevant information about the Vehicle Stability Control System: 1. System Introduction: The Vehicle Stability Control System, also known as the Anti-Skid Control System (Skid-Control-System), was first adopted in domestically produced vehicles by Toyota's Corolla Altis (referred to as VSC by Toyota). Currently, most higher-priced domestic vehicles widely use this system. The Vehicle Stability Control System is an active safety system that includes ABS and ASR, preventing wheel lock-up during braking (ABS) and wheel slip during acceleration (ASR). 2. Working Principle: When a car is turning, if the front wheels reach their adhesion limit first, it causes a 'plowing out' phenomenon. In this situation, no matter how the driver turns the steering wheel, the turning radius cannot be reduced, making it difficult to follow the intended path and resulting in understeer. If the rear wheels reach their adhesion limit first, a 'fishtailing' phenomenon occurs, making the car itself unstable and quickly pulling it towards the direction of the turn, known as oversteer.
