How to reset the maintenance light on Alto?

Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, briefly press the MODE button to switch the display content of the instrument information display to the total mileage interface, then hold the MODE button for more than 5 seconds. The information display will show the OIL symbol for 2 seconds; then release the MODE button and quickly press the MODE button more than 5 times while the OIL symbol is displayed. After the OIL symbol flashes 3 times, it will turn off, indicating the reset is complete. Additional relevant information is as follows: 1. The "SERVICE" indicator on the dashboard display is the maintenance cycle indicator. When the ignition switch is in the ON position and the "SERVICE" indicator flashes, but disappears after starting the engine, it indicates that the vehicle requires maintenance. After maintenance, the maintenance light should be reset. 2. When the maintenance light comes on, it is advisable to schedule maintenance as soon as possible and not delay for too long. Regular maintenance not only ensures that the new Alto remains in good condition but also helps identify potential issues, avoiding vehicle malfunctions while driving and enhancing personal safety to a certain extent.
I've been driving an Alto recently, and after the maintenance light came on, I tried resetting it myself. The process was quite simple: First, get in the car, insert the key into the ignition, and turn it to the second position—where the dashboard lights up but don't start the engine. Then, locate the TRIP button on the dashboard (usually near the odometer), press and hold it firmly for about 10 seconds, and the maintenance light will blink a few times before turning off. The first time I tried, I was in a hurry and started the engine, which made the light unresponsive and wasted time. I recommend ensuring the car is turned off before attempting this to avoid unnecessary hassle. After resetting the light, don’t get complacent—the light is a reminder for a 5,000 km service, so it’s best to change the oil and perform other maintenance tasks as soon as possible. Keep in mind that different model years may have slight variations. If you can’t figure it out, check the owner’s manual or visit a 4S shop for guidance—don’t experiment randomly and risk damaging the car.
