How to Reset the Anti-Pinch Protection for BMW Windows?

Setting the window initialization can reset it. If the window cannot automatically rise when closing the door, it is necessary to check the window relay. Generally, the anti-pinch protection function for windows cannot be canceled. Due to safety considerations during factory settings, this function is mandatory and cannot be canceled.
Let me tell you, my BMW X5 had the exact same window issue recently - the anti-pinch protection kept activating automatically, causing the window to drop halfway when closing. I tried the reset method myself, and it's actually quite simple: First, turn the vehicle to power mode two (ignition on but engine not started). Then sit in the driver's seat, use the window switch to fully close the window, keep holding the switch upward for about 15 seconds - you'll hear a slight click indicating the system has memorized the position. Next, press the switch to lower the window completely, hold for 5 seconds, then close it once more and you're done. This whole process usually takes just 5 minutes, and the issue is mostly caused by system confusion after battery disconnection. After resetting, the window returned to normal operation with proper anti-pinch protection. For regular maintenance, I recommend periodically checking the door/window system to avoid safety issues during rainy weather.
