How to Replace the Windshield Seal?

Prepare a small flat-head screwdriver and 401 special adhesive. First, handle the unglued seal to ensure the unglued area is smooth and free of wrinkles, otherwise the sealing effect cannot be guaranteed. Apply the 401 special adhesive to the tip of the small flat-head screwdriver. Do not apply the adhesive directly onto the seal to prevent leakage and contamination of the car body. After applying the adhesive, press the seal with one hand and slowly spread the adhesive from the screwdriver onto the unglued area with the other hand, moving from top to bottom. Gradually press the seal from top to bottom until all unglued parts are reattached. Finally, press back and forth a few times to ensure the seal is firmly adhered.
As an experienced car enthusiast, I find replacing the front windshield seal is not difficult, but requires attention to detail. Prepare tools like a rubber scraper, a new seal kit (purchased online or at auto parts stores to match your vehicle model), cleaner, and cloth. First, clean the glass edges thoroughly to remove dust and water stains; then slowly peel off the old seal without using excessive force to avoid scratching the glass or paint. Next, align the new seal and press it down starting from one end, ensuring it adheres firmly at every corner. Finally, use the scraper to smooth out any air bubbles. After completion, test the seal by splashing some water to check for leaks. Through several DIY experiences, I've learned that checking before the rainy season can prevent leaks from disrupting your trips—much better than waiting until water seeps in to fix it.
