How to Replace the Fog Lights on a Prado?

The method for replacing the fog lights on a Prado is as follows: There is a small cover below the fog light. Remove the cover to reveal a cross-head screw inside. Use a long-handled cross-head screwdriver to remove it, and the fog light can then be taken out. After replacing the fog light, reassemble it following the steps in reverse order. The function of fog lights is to improve the visibility of the vehicle in rainy or foggy weather. Since rain and fog can reduce the penetration of light, fog lights must first have strong penetration and high visibility. The Prado is a mid-to-large SUV under FAW Toyota. The front suspension uses a double-wishbone independent suspension, and the rear suspension is a four-link non-independent suspension. In terms of body dimensions, its length, width, and height are 4840mm, 1885mm, and 1890mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2790mm. It is powered by a 3.5L naturally aspirated engine, matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Recently I replaced the fog lights on my Prado and found that DIY is actually not difficult. First, disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent short circuits and ensure safety. The fog lights are located under the bumper, secured by a plastic cover. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws and lift the cover. Gently pull out the old bulb, avoiding direct contact with the glass to prevent leaving stains that could affect its lifespan. When inserting the new bulb, a click sound indicates it's properly seated. Then reattach the cover and tighten the screws. Reconnect the battery to test if the lights work—the whole process takes about 20 minutes. Doing it yourself can save around 50 yuan. It's advisable to keep a spare bulb in the trunk for emergencies. If the bulbs frequently burn out, there might be voltage instability, and the generator should be checked. Remember to turn off the lights before operating and don’t forget to document the steps.
