How to Replace the Coolant in Dongfeng Fengxing S500?

Dongfeng Fengxing S500 coolant replacement method: Before completely replacing the coolant, conduct a thorough inspection to check for any signs of leakage or cracks in the pipes, with a focus on the five-way hose. The five-way hose gets its name from having five interfaces that connect various parts. The coolant flows through the five-way hose and is then distributed to different parts of the car to function. If there is any leakage of coolant in this part, the hose should be replaced or the interface should be re-secured based on the situation. Drain the old coolant and then flush the liquid channels with clean water. Add clean water to the coolant reservoir and continue to inject water into the reservoir, allowing the water to flow continuously through the engine cooling system. Then, start the engine and let it idle for 3 to 5 minutes to circulate the water. Initially, the water flowing out of the reservoir will have a faint pink color. Continue adding clean water until the water coming out is clear. Note: Don’t forget to remove the heater hose and drain the water from the heater core. After draining for about an hour, add the new coolant through the radiator hose. This is a method to allow the coolant to flow quickly into the radiator. Then, add another bucket of coolant to the coolant reservoir until it is nearly full. Start the engine and let it run for about 10 minutes. At this point, due to the expulsion of some air from the cooling system, the liquid level will drop slightly. Add more coolant until it reaches the maximum mark "MAXT" on the reservoir.
Replacing the coolant for the Dongfeng Fengxing S500 is something I often do myself—it's simple and hassle-free. First, make sure the vehicle is completely cooled down to avoid burns from hot liquid. Prepare new coolant, a bucket for the old fluid, a wrench, and gloves. Locate the drain plug or valve at the bottom of the radiator, slowly unscrew it to drain the old fluid, and collect it in the bucket to avoid spills. Then, flush the cooling system with water to remove impurities. Pour the new coolant into the expansion tank, keeping it at the MAX line without overfilling. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes; after the fan kicks in, bleed any remaining air and top up with more coolant until the level stabilizes. Remember to replace the coolant every two years or 40,000 km—otherwise, degraded coolant can corrode the engine. I recommend a 50:50 mix of new coolant for winter freeze protection and summer boil-over prevention. Finally, check for leaks to ensure everything is secure—saving money and giving peace of mind.
