I've been changing the air conditioning filter myself for my Mazda 3 (Axela), and it's quite convenient. First, open the glove compartment on the passenger side and empty it to prevent items from falling out. Then, locate the clips or damper rods on both sides of the glove box, gently press to release them, and pull the entire compartment down to remove it. Behind it, you'll see a plastic cover, usually opened by sliding or unclipping. Carefully pull out the old filter, paying attention to the airflow direction indicated by the arrow—don't get it wrong. After taking out the new filter, align it with the arrow and insert it, making sure the arrow points toward the driver's seat. Then, close the cover and reassemble the glove box by pressing the clips back into place. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes, requires almost no tools, and saves on maintenance costs. Changing it once a year keeps the air fresh and reduces allergens, which is totally worth it. Just don't mix up the direction, or the airflow will weaken. Honestly, doing it yourself gives a great sense of accomplishment!
