How to Replace the Battery in a Volvo S90 Car Key?

On the back of the Volvo S90 remote key, there is a circle with a groove in the middle. Use a coin to press into the groove and twist open the cover to reveal the button battery. The groove is located on the edge seam between the front and back of the remote key. Use an appropriate tool to twist open the groove, then purchase a new battery with the same number as the original one for replacement.
I've got quite some experience replacing the Volvo S90 key fob battery, having used my car for several years. There's usually a small gap on the back of the key - use a thin tool like a coin or plastic card to gently pry it open, but don't apply too much force to avoid scratches. Once the battery is exposed, remove the old one and insert the new battery with the positive side facing up (most models use the inexpensive CR2032 battery readily available in supermarkets). When closing the cover, align the clips and press firmly, then test the locking function. Routine replacement every two years or so prevents remote control failure. If the key still doesn't work after battery replacement, it might indicate other issues like water damage or worn buttons - a full inspection is recommended. DIY replacement saves the hassle of visiting the dealership and is remarkably straightforward.
