How to Replace the Battery in a Smart Car Key?
2 Answers
Take out the discharged smart key, remove the mechanical key, press the mechanical key release button on the smart key, and take out the mechanical key. At the location marked with OPEN and an arrow on the smart key, use the teeth of the mechanical key to pry open the key casing. Only pry open the casing at the indicated position. Use a small screwdriver to pry out the battery for replacement. Install the new battery and reassemble the key in the reverse order of disassembly.
Oh this is a common issue I often encounter! Don't panic, changing the battery yourself is actually quite simple. First check if there's a small notch or screw on the side of your key - most keys can be opened from here. Use something sturdy like a coin, small screwdriver, or even your fingernail. Don't apply too much force, gently pry open the casing. Once separated into two halves, you'll see the battery compartment. Remember whether the old battery is CR2032 or CR2025 (the model number is printed on the battery) - just buy an identical one from a convenience store. When installing the new battery, make sure the positive side (marked with a + sign) faces upward. Close the cover until you hear a click, then test if the unlock button lights up - that means you're done. The whole process takes just five minutes, it's really super easy!
