How to Replace the Battery in a Mercedes-Benz A200 Key?

Press the small switch on the back of the key to remove the mechanical key. Press the key back cover opening button on the back of the key and remove the back cover. Then push the battery compartment on the left side of the key to remove the old battery. Ensure the new battery is installed with the positive side facing upwards, then reattach the key cover and mechanical key.
Last time I helped my neighbor replace the battery in their Mercedes-Benz A200 key, it felt quite simple. First, prepare a new CR2032 coin cell battery and a small flat-head screwdriver—some models can also be gently pried open with a fingernail or toothpick. The key usually has clips on the back; slowly pry open the seam without using too much force to avoid damage. Inside, you'll find the battery. Remember to remove the old battery and note the positive (+) orientation, then insert the new battery with the same side facing up. Finally, snap the case back together and press firmly. The whole process takes just 3–5 minutes. I recommend buying Panasonic or Energizer batteries from the supermarket—they cost just a few bucks each. After replacement, test the remote's range to see if it can unlock the car. If the range is too short, the battery might not be installed properly or could be low on power. These key batteries typically last about a year and drain faster in cold weather, so it's always good to keep a spare in your bag.
