Modern car key battery replacement steps are as follows: 1. There is a round button on the side of the car key. Press this button with one hand while pulling out the mechanical key with the other hand. 2. Use the front end of the key to press into the right groove. Alternatively, hold the key with one hand and a flathead screwdriver with the other. Locate the gap in the middle of the top of the key and insert the flathead screwdriver. Pry the key up and down until a gap is created. If the key doesn't budge, gradually increase the force until it moves. 3. Once opened, remove the key circuit board. Gently push on one side of the battery with your finger to remove it. 4. Place the new battery with the positive side facing up into the battery slot of the key. Gently push the battery until it is fully secured.
