How to Replace the Air Filter for a 2017 Honda CR-V?

Location: On the right side of the engine compartment, connected to a prominent large intake pipe. The replacement steps are as follows: 1. Locate the air filter box and use a specialized tool to unscrew the fasteners. 2. The old air filter is inside the air filter box; simply open the cover to see it. 3. To determine if the filter needs replacement, you can directly remove the filter from the air filter box for easier inspection. 4. If the air filter is not too dirty, it doesn't need replacement—just use an air gun to blow out the dust. If the filter is damaged or excessively dirty, it's best to replace it with a new one. During installation, you can refer to the position of the old air filter.
A while ago, I personally replaced the air filter for my CRV, and the whole process was indeed simple. Open the hood and locate the air filter box, which is on the left side of the engine. There is a metal clip on each side of the box casing; gently pry them open to lift the cover. Be careful not to damage the clips. When removing the old filter, be cautious of dust to avoid it falling into the intake duct. Compare the size and corner orientation of the new and old filters to ensure the new one is installed correctly without being reversed. After closing the cover, listen for the click sound indicating that both clips are fully secured. It took me about fifteen minutes to complete, and the only tool needed was a screwdriver to loosen one fixing screw. Doing it yourself not only saves a few dozen dollars but also gives a great sense of accomplishment. Remember to check and replace it every 20,000 kilometers or once a year to keep the engine breathing smoothly. The air filter affects both fuel consumption and power, so don’t overlook it.
