The method for replacing a worn gear shift boot: 1. Insert a metal card into the gap of the plastic base of the gear shift to remove the dust cover and plastic base; 2. After inserting the plastic base, press the gear knob downward and flip it over to facilitate the removal of the dust cover; 3. After flipping, lift the dust cover upward; 4. Then use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the clips and remove the old dust cover; 5. Cut the new dust cover to the size of the old one using a knife; 6. Trim off any excess parts with scissors; 7. Weld the dust cover to the plastic base with a soldering iron; 8. Press the gear knob back in and invert the plastic base to its original position; 9. Secure the plastic base to complete the replacement.
