How to Replace a Lost License Plate?
2 Answers
Vehicle registration certificate, the original ID card of the vehicle owner and a copy, "Motor Vehicle License Plate Application Form" (available at the vehicle management office). If the license plate of a company vehicle is stolen, the organization code certificate must be brought. Remove the other license plate and carry it with the vehicle. The vehicle management office does not replace a single plate. Fill out the "Motor Vehicle License Plate Application Form", submit the documents, pay the fee, and receive a temporary license plate (choose to have it mailed home or pick it up yourself).
Last time one of my license plates fell off, and I was so anxious I broke out in a sweat. I quickly drove home and parked the car—driving without a plate is a no-go, as getting caught by the police means a fine and penalty points. I rushed to the local DMV, bringing my ID, driver’s license, and vehicle registration. I filled out an application form and paid a fee of around 100 yuan. The staff told me I’d get the new plate within 5 working days. They also reminded me to check if the license plate screws were loose and recommended using anti-theft screws to secure it properly, avoiding future issues. The whole process was actually quite smooth—just remember to handle it early and don’t delay. Safety comes first.
