How to Repair a Broken Rearview Mirror Pivot?
1 Answers
If the pivot of the rearview mirror is broken, you can use a strong double-sided adhesive specifically designed for rearview mirrors by peeling off the isolation tapes on both sides. Alternatively, there is a special AB adhesive for rearview mirrors, which needs to be mixed before use. Another option is invisible adhesive, also known as UV adhesive, which bonds plastic and metal materials effectively. Regardless of the adhesive chosen, ensure to clean any residual adhesive from the rearview mirror before application, and avoid hanging overly heavy objects on it during regular use. Generally, the pivot of a rearview mirror is made of plastic, which can easily break under improper force. Although it can be temporarily fixed with adhesive, this solution does not last long and cannot guarantee sufficient strength. If the left pivot of the rearview mirror is broken, it usually cannot be repaired and needs to be replaced. You can have it replaced at a 4S shop. Points to Note When Adjusting the Rearview Mirror: To properly adjust the rearview mirror, first adjust your seating position, then adjust the mirror surface. Since the driver's seat is on the left side, it can be challenging for the driver to gauge the right side of the vehicle. Additionally, due to the need for roadside parking, when adjusting the right rearview mirror, the ground area should occupy a larger portion, about two-thirds of the mirror surface. For the left rearview mirror, adjust the up and down positions so that the distant horizon is centered, and adjust the left and right positions so that the vehicle body occupies one-fourth of the mirror surface.
