How to Remove Window Tint Film?

Apply alcohol to the adhesive on the glass, and you will immediately see the adhesive slowly soften and dissolve. Gently peel it off by hand, and the adhesive will come off the glass cleanly. Apply vinegar to the adhesive, and soon the adhesive will start to peel off in pieces, leaving very little residue on the glass. Low-quality film is easier to handle as its adhesive strength is not particularly strong, making it relatively easy to remove. High-quality car film is more challenging.
Last time I cleaned off the old film myself, and the results were pretty good. First, I used a hairdryer on the highest setting to heat the edges of the film—the heat helps soften the adhesive. I found a small corner and used my fingernail to lift the edge, then slowly peeled it off. For stubborn spots, never yank hard; repeated heating is key. After peeling, there were always adhesive marks left on the glass, so I dripped some essential balm on a towel and wiped—it worked surprisingly well. Finally, I used glass cleaner for a thorough wipe, making sure to use a plastic scraper instead of metal. This job is best done on a sunny day in the garage. It took me the whole afternoon, and I wore gloves to protect my fingers—the adhesive is really tough to wash off if it gets on your hands.
