Next, remove the packing gland and take out the packing inside the stuffing box. 4. Removing the pump shaft: First, remove the front and rear bearing covers on the bracket bearing housing. Then, tap the shaft from the front toward the rear (coupling direction) with a pure copper rod to remove the shaft.
